Outstanding football player at Butler HS as a three year letterman. and team MVP his senior year. and then went on to continue his football career at Wake Forest University being named and MVP Player his senior season and co-captain in 1972. , and the James McDowell Award. He then became an NFL flexibility coach with the St.Louis Cardinals football team.
