2002 Robert Despirito
He played football and lettered at the University of Rhode Island in 1950. He served as the head football coach at the University of Bridgeport from 1960 – 1964. For the next three years he served as an assistant coach at Bucknell University. He then became the head coach at Slippery Rock University from 1967 – 1980. He was inducted into the SRU Hall of Fame in 1980. He finished his 15 year coaching career at SRU with a record of 79-60-2. He led the “Rock” to three straight PSAC Football Championships during his coaching career at SRU.
