2010 Les Shoop

A 1965 graduate of Shannock HS where he lettered three years in basketball. He is still the second leading scorer in the history of the school. He ws named third-team All-State his senior year. Following HS he went on to continue playing basketball at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He lettered all four years at IUP and was named the team captain his senior year. He scored 991 points putting him 7th place all time. After graduation from IUP he launched a a very successful teaching and basketball coaching career starting at Punxsutawney HS where he amassed a record of 212 wins and only 98 losses. He then moved south to take the head coaching position at Knoch HS. His record at Knoch HS was 299 wins and 246 losses. He was named coach of the year several times by both the Butler Eagle,and the Valley News. His 2003 Knoch team reached the WPIAL finals. His teams captured section titles in 1989, 2003, and 2004. Beginning in 1984, eleven of his teams went to the WPIAL playoffs.
