Alfred Alf Allam

2012 Alfred “Alf” Allam

A 1920 graduate of West Philadelphia HS where he participated in football. He came to Butler in 1920 and became active in the YMCA. He was a swimming instructor at Alameda Park Pool. He also organized the Knit Hole Club for the Class C & D baseball leagues at Pullman Park. In 1948 he was one of the charter members that started the Butler Midget Football League, which is still active to this day. In 1968 the Midget Football League named their football field Al ALam Field. He was also instrumental in bringing the first sanctioned Little League baseball franchise with four teams to Butler.
