The 1982 Butler HS graduate. He was an American Legion baseball All-Star performer who was drafted by the Baltimore organization out of high school in the 18th round, and then again by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 22nd round after his collegiate career on scholarship at Penn State University, earning his degree in pre-law and business. His era his senior year was 2.59 earning him the Chuck Medlar Award as the team MVP. He was the ace of the pitching staff at PSU when the team won the Atlantic 10 South Division title in 1985. When the Cardinals drafted him in 1986. He pitched for the Erie in the NY Penn League, and then moved up to Class A Savannah in the South Atlantic League the following year. He injured his pitching arm in 1987 causing him to end his baseball career.
