A 1972 Seneca Valley HS graduate where he played baseball. After graduation he attended Butler County Community College where he also played baseball. At the same time he played baseball for the Zelienople American Legion Baseball program, and then for Harmony in the Butler Eagle County Baseball League. In 1974 he began his professional umpiring career with the Rookie Class Gulf Coast League. In 1975 & 1976 he moved to the Class A Florida State League, then in 1977 he advanced to the Class AA Southern League. Then in 1979 thru 1986 he was with the Class AAA International League, where he served as a crew chief for seven years. In 1981 and 82 he also worked in Puerto Rico Winter League and from 1983 – 1986 he worked as an official in the National League for Major League Baseball. In 1995 he became an Associate Scout for the New York Yankees and from 1996 through 2002 he served in the same capacity with the Tampa Bay Rays. He also has been President of Christian Sports International since 2003.
