A 1985 graduate of Mars HS where he lettered three years in basketball, and baseball. While at Marts he earned the Eythe Williams Award as the Outstanding Senior Athlete. He was named MVP in baseball and senior year. He also earned MVP status his senior year in basketball and football. He led the WPIAL his senior year the most hits in the 1984 season. He batted .553 his senior year. He also set the single game scoring record in basketball his senior year with 42 points. In 1985 and 86 he was named tot the PA American Legion East/West All Star Game. He went on to play baseball at Penn State. He set a new PSU record his Freshman year with the most home runs as a Freshman. After his sophomore year he left Penn State and was drafted by the Californaia Angels in the 14th round. After an injury Mike returned to Butler County and continued to play baseball in the Butler Eagle County League where he was named MVP for the Callery and Mars teams. He also played for St. Johns in the North Pittsburgh Federation League on 3 championship teams. Mike was one on the most consistant power hittes in the Eagle County League for 15 years averaging 14 homers per season on 28 game schedules.
