1980 Gene Evans

1920’s era semi-pro baseball player – as a top pitcher . His career began at age 16 playing at Jahnig Field against the Homestead Grays. He joined the Bruin Oils later and pitched against several pro teams including the Erie Sailors, one of several pro teams that offered him a pro contract. He decided he was near the end of his baseball career and turned down the offers.
