1986 John “Grip” Graham

A Butler HS graduate who excelled as a basketball player. At 6’5″ he dominated for Butler scoring 45 points in one game when scoring like that was not the normal for high school. He had a two year record of 299 field goals in his era. His senior year he was named the Section 1 Player of the Year. His performances for Butler earned him over 40 college scholarship offers. He settled on West Virginia and started as a freshman. He did not return for a second season. He played for the Butler YMCA and his team placed second in the nationals at Scranton.
